Beneficial Bacteria
What is Beneficial Bacteria?
In a natural pool, the biological filter, which is home to a healthy colony of beneficial bacteria is responsible for keeping the water clean and clear. Beneficial Bacteria works by consuming excess nutrients in the water, eliminating unwanted organic matter. It takes harmful levels of things such as ammonia, phosphorus, and nitrites and breaks them down to help create a healthy, balanced natural system. This results in clearer water and less muck, as well as happier fish and water plants.

When to Use It?
Adding Beneficial Bacteria is always recommend when installing a new natural pool, pond, or water garden. We also suggest adding more bacteria every spring especially in the first few years or after a particularly harsh winter. Remember to check the gallon size of your body of water to apply the correct dose of beneficial bacteria (whether dry or liquid). Only use varieties designed for ponds or natural pools, not bacteria designed for septic systems.
