In a UV Sterilizer/Clarifier unit, water flows through a chamber at a certain speed (or flow rate) and is exposed to a super bright UV light which kills or inactivates any micro-organisms in the water like waterborne algae, e.coli and other harmful bacteria. UV units come in different sizes (for small and large water features), types (some for ponds and some NSF-rated ones for pools) and strengths (the brightness of the UV light and length of exposure work on different types of mico-organisms). ​
